Inside Fold

  1. 01

    Shut, it is a coaster.

    64 × 63.2 × 15.4 mm and asleep. Nothing blinks, nothing pings.

  2. 02

    Lift the lid, it looks up.

    The face wakes as the lid opens. Two bolts clamp the hinge, so it holds any angle up to 90° on friction alone.

  3. 03

    Everything lives in the base.

    Battery, speaker, amp and the ESP32-S3, which does Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, sit side by side in a 7.8 mm tub. The lid carries the screen and nothing else.

  4. 04

    Six printed parts, seven bought ones.

    Shell, deck, lid, back, bezel and hinge barrel are printed. M2 button heads thread into brass inserts to make the hinge.

  5. 05

    One USB-C port, both jobs.

    The port in the right wall charges the battery and plugs into your laptop for flashing firmware and reading logs.

  6. 06

    A mic you can pull out.

    The mic is a pod in a USB-C socket in the left wall. Pull it and Fold cannot hear you.

  7. 07

    Grins when you ship.

    Push to main and the face grins. Break the build and it frowns.

Mic you can unplug.

Order it with or without the mic. It plugs in when you want voice and comes out when you don't. Or skip it and talk through your phone.
